Your First Visit

As our patient, your care is in the trusted hands of one of Indianapolis' most experienced retinal surgeons. You will be welcomed with warmth and respect as you arrive and you can expect the following as part of your visit:

What To Bring With You

To make the most of your appointment, please bring your glasses, insurance card and/or information, and contact information for all doctors involved in your care.

Read more information on what to bring.

Registration Forms & Medical History

You will begin by completing some basic paperwork (you or a family member may also choose to download and complete paperwork in advance if that is more convenient for you) and a member of our staff will gather and review your full medical history.

Eye Dilation

In most cases, it will be necessary to dilate both of your eyes, which may blur your vision temporarily. For this reason, we recommend prearranging transportation home with a friend or family member.

Complete Exam

Dr. Poer will review your medical history and perform a complete examination of your eyes. After a full examination, he will discuss your condition, any additional testing that may be required for diagnosis, and recommended therapies or procedures.

Testing and Treatment

Since specialized testing is often needed, and in many cases, treatment can be initiated during the same day and appointment, please plan on a visit that may last up to four(4) hours.

Words cannot fully express

my appreciation for all your care while I was a patient. Everything was explained to me in language I could understand and not a lot of big medical terms. May God bless you as you care for others.
